Chester-Hoffmann and Associates, Inc. is a Minnesota based professional interior design firm established in 1989 by Jean Hoffmann.  We focus on both residential and boutique commercial interiors.  We specialize in a wide range of design from traditional, to contemporary. 

Chester-Hoffmann and Associates creates custom interior designs that transform residential and commercial spaces into exquisite living and professional interiors that elicit function, beauty and sophistication.  We have extensive experience in space planning and design; drafting; project management; color and design consultation; new construction and renovations as well as bathroom and kitchen remodeling.

Meet Our Design Team

Jean Hoffmann, ASID, CID, and Lead Interior Designer

Jean Hoffmann is the Principal Designer and President of Chester-Hoffmann & Associates, Inc., established in 1989. 

As a certified interior designer, her design expertise is residential and professional interiors.  Jean transforms spaces into interiors that blend function with beauty and sophistication. Her designs creatively balance architecture with all elements of design – space, color, light, and furnishings, creating interiors that function in practical life settings. 

Jean’s work emulates her impeccable eye for designing spaces with the outstanding use of color, texture and proportion.  Jean has significant experience in space planning and design; drafting; project management; color and design consultation; new construction and renovations, including bathrooms and kitchens.  She has been specifying and supplying fine interior and exterior furnishings and textiles in traditional, transitional and contemporary settings for discerning clients over 40 years. 

Jean designs extensively throughout Minnesota and the Midwest, but her work includes projects that take her all over the country.  While Jean’s design focus is primarily residential, she has completed a variety of private professional projects including the design of reception areas, private offices, lobbies and common areas of condominium and commercial buildings. 

Jean Hoffmann received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interior Design from the University of Minnesota.  She is a professional member of ASID, American Society of Interior Designers.  Jean is a certified Interior Designer, by the Minnesota State Board of Architecture, Engineering,  Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design.

Sarah Maloney, Interior Designer

Sarah’s exceptional talents include an eye for textiles, attention to detail and excellent follow-through on projects from their onset, to completion.  Her success in managing projects is due to her directness, confidence, common sense, communication skills, and business acumen in overseeing customer needs. 

Sarah received her Bachelors in Fine Arts Degree in Interior Design from Iowa State University. 

When Sarah is not working, she enjoys keeping up with her very busy toddler,  working on Pinterest projects, cooking, walking her dog, Louis, or doing anything outside. Interesting fact: Sarah received a full scholarship for gymnastics at Iowa State.

Kate Hoffmann, Project Manager and Interior Design Assistant

Some might say it was inevitable that Kate would someday find herself part of the design community. As a little girl, she often went on appointments with her mom, Jean, in the Summers or after school.  As she grew older, she worked for Chester Hoffmann & Associates during her summer and winter breaks. After spending many years in the Insurance industry, Kate realized her creative side could no longer be suppressed and found her way back to CHA. Kate’s project, client and account management skills are put to good use in her new role.

Kate received her business management degree from Providence College in Rhode Island.

During her free time, Kate is busy managing her small stationery business on Etsy. She also enjoys spending time with her husband and dog Ollie, walking around the Minneapolis Lakes and playing golf.
